Hello, sackfolk!

Similar to my, ?I need movie making tips!? thread on the LBP2 tutorials section, this thread is dedicated to tips for anything.

I'm new to LBP3. I'm an LBP novice in general. I haven't even gotten the gist of all LBP2's tools. So, as you can imagine, LBP3 is a lot more challenging.

This thread is perfect for all of the little questions that I have. No questions at the moment, but I'll definitely be asking them later. Any tips and tricks that any of you would like to provide are welcome as well!

I'm here with my first question, and its a doozie:

How do you make a controllable sackbot?

I would rather not be directed to a video tutorial, as my video quality is really bad. But also because I grasp written tutorials better!

Okay,, do you want a Sackbot that you hop into a controlinator to control, one that copies what you do, or a Created Characters?

Well, a Created Character is a new feature for LittleBigPlanet 3 which you design a Sackbot, and go into Global Settings, the first page will be Characters, which has Sackboy, OddSock, Toggle, and Swoop. But, there is a save option above them where you can save your own! The new character will spawn and act like the pre-made Characters! But when use them, you can not save objects with them. To have the Sackbot have special abilities with a Controlinator, you need to set the Controlinator to 'Receive by Nearest Player'. So, if you have a Controlinator on a Created Character in Multi-Player Moon, it will be a little buggy. (P.S. With this feature, you can save or change the costume of the character as it, so it's a little funny.)

But, to have a Sackbot with a Controlinator that is not a Created Character, you need a piece of invisible Sticker Panel or Hologram. Place a Controlinator on it, tweak it invisible and to be a Transmitter (If you have multiple Sackbots, be sure to change the colors of everything!). Place a Follower on it, tweaked to follow a Tag, with both speeds and strength tweaked all the way! With the Sackbot, place a Controlinator on it's Microchip, and tweak it to be a Receiver of the same color of the Transmitter. Place a Tag on it that is also the same as the Follower's Tag to follow! And there, you have the basis of it!

The Created Character premise sounds terrific!

And thank you ever so much for the tutorial! Very precise. I'm pretty sure that I get it now.

I'll probably be back soon, with more questions regarding controllable sackbot powerups and such..........

I'm still intrigued by controllable sackbots. So here's another question: How do you make a health bar system to put on one?
A big question, I know. But it's something that I'm eager to learn!

If someone could provide another excellently written tutorial like DiamondDiancie10's, I would be extremely pleased................

Sorry, TheSangheiliGeek, but I never did such a health bar system, and I'm not such an excellent writer like DiamonDiancie! I have an idea but I will first have to try it out! I will tell you if it functions!

As I wait for my other question's answer, I'll ask another question:

What would be the best way of going about making a sword fighting sackbot? For example: square = attack, triangle = heavy attack, etc. etc.
Is a custom powerup the way to go? Can you folks provide any insight on how to make it do this, and how to animate such "attacks?"

I'm eager to learn!

I think this is the best way to make a health system 
I'd like to point out that everything past the fourth direction combiner is not required to make this health system
That is there if you want to add a defence stat to the characters

 It works like this
The first battery is set to 100% and counters are set to subtract from the total
ex: 1/20 = 5%,   100% - 5% = 95% output
but you want the output to be 5 and not 95
So this is set to subtract from another 100% battery 
95%-100% = -5%
connect to the direction combiner and connect the direction combiner to a timer set to 0.1 time, speed scale, inverted
Then Done !

For the defence you can set another counter to subtract from the 5% output 
Note: 
You can use batteries or tag sensors instead of counters
