Hi there.
I was curiously looking here in the LBP3 tutorials section to learn something but found pretty much empty space. I would like to make some tutorials myself, but i am not so good with explaining things so sorry about that. Back to the topic. I think we need some advanced tutorials about adventures and dynamic thermo. I am working for quite some time on my Japan adventure. While doing this, i experienced way to many issues with uploading the adventure and handling the dynamic thermo. Basically i am asking this questions: -Is adventure limited to some amount of megabytes? (I ask this because i cant stuff more than 4 to 6 levels in it, and it feels like it is bound to the size of the whole adventure) -Should we limit the materials, decorations and accessory's and on how much? (I limited pretty heavy everything but materials. But i also dont use to much materials so i really cant understand it) -If there are 15 levels allowed for adventure, then why do i have the problems uploading 5 of them without to overexert the red thermo or to get the complexity error??? -How many thermos are there in dynamic thermo? Some speak about yellow one and orange one. (My logic has raised the thermo and i thought that is was the stuff in the level) -Is there a way to check specific one of them? The end of the story is that i dont use dyn thermo any more. 3D logic alone is way to heavy for it. Not to mention that i want to pack at least 5 times more logic on skills, puzzles and on the level itself. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY USEABLE ANSWERS REGARDING THE ADVENTURE. Many many thanks and kind regards Psmerga |

Well, even though you aren't gonna use a dynamic thermo, I'll tell you all I know about it and it's tools.
The dynamic thermo can make your level infinite, granted that you have enough memory space. What it does is load a certain area and then unload an area when you are in range/out of range. This way it'll have less cluttered objects loaded at once! There are tools like the Preloader and etc. that can affect how the Dynamic thermo works and how it can ultimately reduce lag, and enable much more creation without use of level linking to continue a level! LBP3's thermos to me are actually just horrible to be honest (such as music sequencing thermo etc.) However the Dynamic thermo makes an exception. What you can also do to reduce lag and etc. is to make sure objects aren't being glued together TOO MUCH! Gluing objects together usually can be the ultimate source of lag! You can also try and use less corners, because the more complicated an object/s is/are, the less level space and more lag there is! The more complex the thermos are in each level, would probably ultimately result in the Adventure map's level complexity, resulting trouble when you wish to publish levels onto it! The more materials there are, the more complex it can get, to save space and organise levels, when I put decorations on, I usually put it on a sticker panel material and place it around, this way, the actually level isn't as complex and reduces lag, yet obviously would create some (but not as much) counter lag. This is all I have for now, and these are my understandings of how LBP thermo and lag works. And yes, we do need some proper tutorials about quest logic, adventures and the dynamic thermo (which is actually easy to figure out) Please note when the dynamic thermo unloads logic for e.g. when it is reloaded, it will be in its first, primary state. For 3D Movement broadcast chips, if the dyno thermo unloads the logic, you cannot then be affected by the broadcast chip, use a preloader to prevent this and keep the logic intact. Thanks much, hope this helps! - Sana_88 |

Thank you for the fast replay.
It took me quite long time to realize that my issues with the dyn thermo are logic based. I couldnt imagine it, because i used soooooo heavy logic in lbp2. (Visit my LBP2 Ninja jumps level. This is very light version of logic. Real logic not used because creatinators fail to give items) I am to accustomed with 3D and all the skills that i cant part with it, so as for my current adventure, i must part with dyn thermo. As for the adventure, i am still working hard to finish it in near future. Since i know some stuff, i could improve much things on it until now. Hope you visit my "shinobi no mono" when finished. I am remastering it, so sacks can enjoy decent gameplay and content. Have nice day Psmerga |

You're welcome, I hope this had helped! I am also a fellow logic user, and then some of my friends finally found out what forward/backwards timers do
Seriously though. I just had some trouble with the dynamic thermo (Oh the irony) Whenever I load the level, or undo/redo, it also converts the thermo to a dynamic one, when I do not want it. Weird huh? |

Oops (Sorry for double post)
When I said preloader I meant to say Permanency Tweaker. |

Hehe yes i also learn everyday new stuff.
You wana hear something funny? I had some electrical engineering while learning my profession. And i learned just recently the way to store the signal. *ashamed Also i learned just recently what you can do with timers. Learned it while processing the signal for diagonal movement in 3D since no one made it and i dislike 2D mapping. (Diagonal movement was about 30% to fast) So i had no other choice than to come up with something. If you are interested, visit my 3D giveaway level. Chip is fully tweak- and copyable. I dont care about credit so you can do with it what you want. If you want to mention someone, then "oO_ArianA_Oo". Used her chip to learn the big picture of logic. Normally i wouldnt make my version but couldnt tweak hers for my purposes, so i had to bite in the sour apple and do the job. Well i can be pretty lazy sometimes. |

Hmmm... while changed in dyn thermo, you cant change back in normal.
It deletes everything out of preloading area. > In my opinion, this is a bug. One more reason to not use dyn thermo. :'( |

That's not necessarily true. I can change out of it without the unloaded area being deleted (Well, that one time it got deleted but still) but it keep reconverting to Dynamic which is annoying.

Maybe they fixed it in the meantime. I had some bad experiences back then.

Thank goodness! Dynamic Thermo is a nightmare for game developers, and it's a bore to do it. Sumo has to get thier thinking cap on and do more things to fix the codes for Dymanic Thermo. Let's wait and see if the patch coming in a few days will do any good for it. |
